Projects

Since its creation, AMATELA has pursued project development as a core strategy to strengthen the technical and local capacities needed for the management and long-term sustainability of the RVSMBT.

Strengthening local actors, surrounding communities and staff of the marine protected area Refugio de Vida Silvestre Marino Bahía de Tela.

The project aims to strengthen the management of key stakeholders in the RVSMBT and its surrounding protected areas to contribute to the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources within the MPAs by 2027. Expected impacts of the project include strengthened local authorities in the application of current regulations, improved capacities of staff responsible for managing the protected area along with the necessary equipment, training of local fishermen in sustainable fishing and the promotion of responsible practices and control of lionfish populations, development of a public use plan for the marine protected area, and certification of tourism service providers.
